Oppenheimer peaked on every measure at once: 13 Academy Award nominations, 7 wins — Best Picture among them — $977M worldwide on a $100M budget, and a 93% critics score. Ranked against every other Nolan film, it sits at or near the top of the chart in each category.

Parts of Oppenheimer were shot on film stock that did not exist until this production: “First feature to shoot sections on IMAX black-and-white 65mm film stock.” The stock was manufactured for the picture — the black-and-white Fusion scenes exposed on emulsion no camera had ever run at that gauge.
